General Information
Wifi-only iPads do not have GPS so you cannot record your trails or locate yourself where there is no mobile reception. You can connect a Garmin Glo 2 GPS, though. It costs about $175. It is a small device (8×4 cm) that connects via bluetooth, so it can be carried in your pocket.

How do I know if my iPad is wifi-only?
- there is no socket to put a SIM into (this might have a white plastic cover)
- run the ‘Settings’ app – there will be no ‘Mobile’ section anywhere – only ‘Wifi’
- they are also cheaper than iPads with SIM capability – look carefully when buying
Does ‘align map to your surrounds’ work on a wifi-only iPad?

No. Our testing has shown this does not work on a wifi-only iPad.
If I have a SIM iPad, do I need to insert a SIM card to use GPS?
No, you do not need to insert a SIM card into the SIM socket to use GPS.
